This Bright Futures at Georgetown University site discusses Bright Futures in Practice: Oral Health (1966), the first volume in the Bright Futures in Practice series. The publication addresses the oral health needs of children and adolescents from birth to age 21 by presenting specific guidelines on oral health promotion and disease prevention and other preventive strategies and tools. It is designed for health professionals and educators, and information in the guide can be adapted for use with families. Oral Health is available from the Web site as PDF files.


National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center

The purpose of the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center (OHRC) of Georgetown University is to respond to the needs of States and communities in addressing current and emerging public oral health issues. OHRC supports health professionals, program administrators, educators, policy makers, and others with the goal of improving oral health services for infants, children, adolescents, and their families. The resource center collaborates with Federal, State, and local agencies; national and State organizations and associations; and foundations to gather, develop, and share quality and valued information and materials. OHRC also collects programmatic materials such as standards, guidelines, curricula, and professional and consumer education materials. A fact sheet describing the services of the resource center is available. The Web site includes data, a listserv, links, materials, presentations, programs, and information on regional and State summits.


National Oral Health Information Clearinghouse

The National Oral Health Information Clearinghouse (NOHIC), a service of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, provides oral health information to special care patients (those having medical or disabling conditions that compromise oral health). NOHIC is a resource for health professionals and these special care patients that gathers and disseminates information from many sources, including voluntary health organizations, research institutions, Government agencies, and industry. NOHIC produces and distributes patient and professional education materials including fact sheets, brochures, and information packets. NOHIC also sponsors the Oral Health Database, which includes bibliographic citations, abstracts, and availability information for various print and audiovisual materials.
