CDC's Chronic Disease Prevention Web site of publications and products includes the following categories: at-a-glance reports, chronic disease publications, chronic disease prevention databases, prevention effectiveness fact sheets, select publications on specific topics, and additional publications by topic (including adolescent and school health, behavioral risk factor surveillance system, cancer prevention and control, cardiovascular health, diabetes, nutrition and physical activity, oral health, reproductive health, and smoking and health). Some documents are available in PDF; most can be ordered from CDC.

The National Assembly on School-Based Health Care (NASBHC) strives to serve as the premiere professional development and information arm of the school-based health care field, and provides professional development and continuing education opportunities for the interdisciplinary members of the school-based health care team. The NASBHC Center for Technical Assistance and Training Web site provides news items, tools and resources, and training (e.g., Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Webcasts, Conference Call Series).


Council on Education for Public Health

The Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) is an independent agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit schools of public health and certain public health programs offered in settings other than schools of public health (community health education programs, community health/preventive medicine programs). These schools and programs prepare students for entry into careers in public health. The primary professional degree is the Master of Public Health (MPH), but other masters and doctoral degrees are offered as well. The CEPH Web site includes accredited schools and programs, public health specializations, accreditation procedures, accreditation criteria, and technical assistance papers (discussion papers that expand on policy or provide practical suggestions about how official CEPH policy may be operationalized).


Federal Resource for Educational Excellence

The Federal Resource for Educational Excellence Web site was designed to make hundreds of federally supported teaching and learning resources from over 35 Federal organizations easier to find; it offers one-stop access. Subjects include arts, educational technology, foreign languages, health and safety, language arts, mathematics, physical education, science, social studies, and vocational education. Resources include teaching ideas, learning activities, photos, maps, primary documents, data, paintings, sound recordings, and more. A section for students is also provided on the Web site.

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to making teaching a profession dedicated to student learning and upholding high standards for professional performance. NBPTS has raised the standards for teachers, strengthened their educational preparation through the standards, and created performance-based assessments that demonstrate accomplished application of the standards. The Web site includes information on standards and national board certification; a candidate resource center; a section for national board-certified teachers; national, State, and local action opportunities and information; information on educational reform; an events, calendar, and resources section, a news center; information on candidate support and higher education initiatives; and research information.

National Health Information Center (NHIC) Publications

This Web site lists NHIC publications (with links). Annual publications include the following: 2004 Federal Health Information Centers and Clearinghouses, 2004 Toll-Free Numbers for Health Information, and 2004 National Health Observances (The Year at a Glance, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Public Affairs Contacts). All are available in PDF. NHIC also supports the healthfinder® Web site, which offers a searchable database of thousands of online Federal health publications. A link to an NHIC fact sheet is provided for more information. Also listed are a few Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion publications --Healthy People 2010 publications and Prevention Report.


National Training Program

The National Training Partnership (NTP), managed by the Education Development Center, Inc., assists State and local education agencies in strengthening their capacity to implement training that will improve health education, especially HIV prevention, provided in schools and other youth-serving organizations. The Web site includes School Health Program News, various projects and programs, the NTP Clearinghouse, information on the Training and Development Consortium, training design resources, technical assistance resources, and the Division of Adolescent and School Health expectations for professional development.
