The ASPIRA Association, Inc., is the only national nonprofit organization devoted solely to the education and leadership development of Puerto Rican and other Latino youth. (ASPIRA takes its name from the Spanish verb aspirar [aspire].) Since its founding ASPIRA has provided a quarter of a million youth with the personal resources they need to remain in school and contribute to their community. This HRSA Take a Stand. Lend a Hand. Stop Bullying Now! Campaign Web site designed for
children is dedicated to reducing and preventing bullying. It reviews why kids bully, signs that someone bullies others, effects of bullying, being bullied, and witnessing bullying. The site includes an entertaining series of Webisodes, an online survey about bullying, and games. A section for adults on what they can do is also included.
MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving http://www.madd.org
MADD is a nonprofit grass roots organization with more than 600 chapters nationwide. MADD's mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this crime, and prevent underage drinking. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, under the U.S. Department of Transportation, is responsible for reducing deaths, injuries, and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes, which is accomplished by setting and enforcing safety performance standards for motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment. Buckle Up America, coordinated by NHTSA, is a national campaign to increase the proper use of safety belts and child safety seats. This Web site includes the latest research; news; strategies for increasing proper safety belt and safety seat use; tools; a calendar of upcoming events; a partner resource center; statistics on safety belt use, child restraint use, and fatalities and injuries; and links to other traffic safety Web sites.

The Impaired Driving Division at NHTSA has developed partnerships to cooperatively save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce traffic-related health care and economic costs resulting from impaired driving (due to alcohol and other drugs). Their Web site is a part of this effort and includes tips for individuals and organizations getting started. It also includes a section for particular audiences: community, criminal justice, hospitality, educators, medical and health care, military, motorcycle, sports, youth, and employers. The national strategy to stop impaired driving is arranged by program and campaign. The Web site includes success stories, program toolkits, research and statistics, legislation, a calendar of events, a press room, featured partners, and featured resources. The site is available in English and Spanish.

NOYS pulls together resources that save lives, prevent injuries, and promote safe and healthy life styles among youth. PAVNET Online from the Partnership Against Violence Network http://www.pavnet.org
PAVNET is a virtual library of information about violence and at-risk youth, representing data from seven Federal agencies. Violence prevention professionals can communicate and share resources through the Pavnet mailgroup. This site also provides a research database; programs on community violence, family violence, substance abuse, victims, and youth violence; a conference calendar; and links to violence prevention resources on the Web. Readers can also search all Federal violence prevention sources at once.
SADD - Students Against Destructive Decisions http://www.sadd.org
SADD helps young people say "no" to drinking and driving, and has become a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving, teen violence, and teen depression and suicide. The Web site includes SADD events, information on organizing a chapter, SADD by State (State events, resources, and legislation), resources (newsletters, issues, links, statistics, and sample public service announcements), media (press releases, op-eds, and articles), and national campaigns. Early Warning, Timely Response: A Guide to Safe Schools presents a summary of the research on violence prevention and intervention and crisis response in schools. To reduce violence, the guide recommends school board policies that address prevention and intervention; schoolwide violence prevention and response plans that include the entire school community; training in recognizing the early warning signs of potential violent behavior; procedures that encourage staff, parents, and students to share their concerns about children who exhibit early warning signs; procedures for responding quickly to concerns about troubled children; and adequate support in getting help for troubled children. The guide is available in various formats from the Center for Effective Collaboration and Practice Web site, most of which are in both English and Spanish.
The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Action Center http://www.sshsac.org
The Action Center assists and supports the Safe Schools/Healthy Students (SSHS) and School Action grantees in implementing comprehensive approaches to violence prevention and creating safe schools and communities. It also serves local education agencies, communities, and families by providing resources and materials. The Action Center is the product of a partnership among the Departments of Health and Human Services, Education, and Justice. The Web site includes the Practices and Resources Clearinghouse, a central information network and organized directory that includes evidence-based practices and research, best practices, and other programs on violence and substance abuse prevention, as well as sustainability resources (SSHS Action Center newsletter, listserv, links to organizations and resources, and conference call series).

United National Indian Tribal Youth (UNITY) is a national organization with 211 youth councils operating in 34 States and Canada. UNITY fosters the spiritual, mental, physical, and social development of American Indian and Alaska Native youth and helps build a strong, unified, and self-reliant Native America through involving its youth. The Web site includes UNITY youth organizations by State, information to assist UNITY advisors, a forum, a UNITY newsletter, articles, and links to useful information on the Web.
