Michael Kogan holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Yale University. He is currently
the Director, Office of Data and information Management for the Maternal
and Child Health Bureau. In this position he is responsible for directing
activities of the office with an emphasis on 1) maternal and child health
research; 2) building the data capacity of federal, state and local areas
in maternal and child health; and 3) building the maternal and child health
epidemiology capacity in the United States.
Prior to this position, he worked as a Senior Epidemiologist at the National
Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
He serves on the editorial boards of the Maternal and Child Health Journal
and the American Journal of Public Health. His research interests include:
the effect of prenatal and pediatric care services on maternal and child
health, the effect of lack of health care coverage on access and continuity
of care, multiple births and determinants of preterm birth.

Dr. Blumberg is a senior scientist at the National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He is the lead statistician for the State and Local Area Integrated Telephone Survey. This random-digit-dial telephone survey mechanism has fielded several population-based surveys on children's health, health care, and well-being, including the National Survey of Early Childhood Health, the National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs, and the National Survey of Children’s Health. Dr. Blumberg’s published research focuses on survey strategies for identifying vulnerable populations, including children with special health care needs, children without health insurance, and persons with mental or emotional disorders. More recently, he also has written about the impact of cellular telephones on coverage bias for telephone surveys. Dr. Blumberg has a PhD in social psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Bethell is Associate Professor at the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) and the founding Director of The Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative (CAHMI, www.cahmi.org). The CAHMI is a national initiative established in 1998 with the mission to advance a high-quality, patient- and consumer-centered health care system for children, youth, and families. Dr. Bethell serves as principle investigator for the collaborative development; validation; and national, state, and local implementation of the Promoting Healthy Development Survey, the Young Adult Health Care Survey, the Children with Special Health Care Needs Screener, and other child health and health care quality measurement tools.
Currently, Dr. Bethell’s work is focused on developing, disseminating and supporting the widespread use of health and health care services information through the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau-sponsored National Data Resource Center on Child and Adolescent Health (www.childhealthdata.org) as well as on projects to advance health and health services performance measurement and improvement in the area of preventive and developmental services and care for children with chronic conditions in pediatric offices and health plans. She also leads other projects on the quality measurement and consumer engagement in assessing and improving health care. Prior to OHSU, Christina served as Senior Vice President at the Foundation for Accountability, where she led the development of numerous adult and child health care quality measures and the nationally adopted Consumer Information Framework. Dr. Bethell earned her BA in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She has an MPH and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and has earned a PhD in health services and policy research from the University of Chicago.
