Introduction:

The Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Epidemiology Research Fellowship will bring together two highly-esteemed doctoral programs, the DrPH in Leadership, Management, and Policy and the PhD in Epidemiology.

Problem:

To address the current and most pressing needs of MCH populations it will be necessary to develop a workforce that is knowledgeable concerning the substance of MCH problems, programs, and policies, as well as, skilled in the analysis and interpretation of empirical data that can form the evidence base used in decision-making.

Methodology:

Goal 1. Provide financial support to doctoral students who conduct state or local level analysis on a public health topic important to MCH populations

Goal 2: Educate a diverse and talented pool of doctoral students in data collection and resources, analytic methods, and frameworks relevant to state and local MCH programs.

Goal 3: Strengthen the evidence base in MCH through publication of dissertation research in national peer-reviewed journals.
