POPULATION CHARACTERISTICS
Population characteristics describe the diverse social,
demographic, and economic features of women in
the United States (U.S.). Representing slightly more
than
half of the Nation's population, women and girls
number approximately 142 million.
Analysis and comparison
of data across gender, age, and race and ethnicity
can be used to tailor
the development
and evaluation of programs and policies serving
women's health.
The following section presents data on population
characteristics that affect women's health. These
indicators include
age, race, education, income, occupations, and
participation in Federal programs. |
