Project Description

The Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program supports the delivery of coordinated and comprehensive high-quality and voluntary early childhood home visiting services to eligible families living in at-risk communities. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), which administers this program in partnership with the Administration for Children and Families, funds states, territories, and tribal entities to develop and implement evidence-based programs that best meet the needs of their communities.

Project Description

The U.S. Virgin Islands received funding for the F2FHIC program that is needed to improve the health care services for families of youth and children with special healthcare needs (CYSHCNs) needs by providing leadership training so they fully participate with the Virgin Islands healthcare professional and be part of the decision-making process at all policy-making that impact the lives and healthcare needs of their children. The project included training sessions for families and healthcare professionals on both island districts; including meeting with policymakers and providing information on the importance of addressing the needs of families with CYHCNs in the territory.
