Regional Pediatric Pandemic Network

HRSA is planning to release a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to support a Regional Pediatric Pandemic Network (RPPN). The Congressional Joint Explanatory Statement describes this opportunity.

General details include:

  • Participants: The RPPN is expected to be composed of five children's hospitals (centers) or their affiliated university pediatric partners.
  • Network purpose: To coordinate among the Nation's pediatric hospitals and their communities in preparing for and responding to global health threats. This includes the coordination, preparation, response, and real time dissemination of research-informed pediatric care for future pandemics.

Pediatric Mental Health Care Access Program

HRSA is planning to release a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to expand the Pediatric Mental Health Care Access program (PMHCA) into areas not currently funded by HRSA. HRSA will fund up to 32 new projects with this opportunity. The federal funding level is up to $445,000 per year for a 5-year period of performance.

Section 2712 of the American Rescue Plan Act further describes this opportunity.

General details include:

  • Program purpose:  To promote behavioral health integration into pediatric primary care by supporting pediatric mental health care telehealth access programs. The program will support statewide or regional networks of pediatric mental health care teams, consisting of a psychiatrist(s), a licensed mental health professional(s), and a care coordinator. The teams will provide tele-consultation, training, technical assistance, and care coordination for pediatric primary care providers who can then screen, assess, treat and refer children with behavioral health conditions.
  • Applicants: States, political subdivisions of states, and Indian tribes and tribal organizations, as defined in section 4 of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (25 U.S.C. § 450b) are eligible to apply. Existing recipients of HRSA PMHCA awards (HRSA-18-122 and HRSA-19-096) or other entities within funded states, are not eligible to apply.
