Life Expectancy at Birth, by Race* and Sex, 1970-2007

From 1970 to 2006, the life expectancy at birth (age in years) for:

  • White females steadily increased

  • Black females steadily increased (with a slight decline in the early 1990s)

  • White males steadily increased

  • Black males steadily increased (with a slight decline in the 1990s)
