Awards Charts - Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Workforce Development

The purpose of this program is to:

• Strengthen and expand the MCH workforce by training graduate and post-graduate public health students in MCH, and
• Advance MCH science, research, practice and policy through a well-trained MCH public health workforce.

The purpose of this program is to increase access to evaluation and services for children with a wide range of developmental and behavioral concerns, including autism. The intent of the program is to train the next generation of leaders in DBP and build the workforce capacity to evaluate, diagnose, or rule out developmental disabilities, including autism, as well as other behavioral health concerns, and support research and clinical care in the broad range of behavioral, psychosocial, and developmental issues.

The purpose of the LEAH Program is to improve the quality of care and equitable access to appropriate health services for adolescents and young adults (AYA) by preparing leaders in AYA health through interdisciplinary training at the graduate and post-graduate levels.

The purpose of the LEND program is to improve the health of individuals who have, or are at a higher likelihood for developing, autism or related developmental disabilities by providing graduate-level training in maternal and child health interdisciplinary leadership education in neurodevelopmental and related disabilities programs.

Building on infrastructure provided by the Centers of Excellence in MCH funding, the purpose of this support is to train the future MCH epidemiologic workforce and promote advancements in applied MCH research.

The purpose of the PPC program is to improve the health status of infants, children, and adolescents with chronic respiratory conditions, sleep issues, and other related special health care needs.

The purpose of the MCH LEAP program is to promote the development of a diverse and representative public health and health care workforce by recruiting undergraduate students from underserved or underrepresented backgrounds into MCH public health and MCH-related health professions. Through this, the program aims to improve levels of representation, reduce health disparities, and increase access to health care for vulnerable and underserved MCH populations, including those from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds.

The purpose of this program is to promote the healthy nutrition of mothers, children, and families by establishing and enhancing nutrition centers of excellence to train future and current MCH nutrition professionals. MCH Nutrition Training Programs provide interdisciplinary graduate-level training in MCH nutrition and collaborate with the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Block Grant Program and other MCH programs to provide continuing education and technical assistance to local, state, and national organizations serving MCH populations.

The purpose of this program is to:

• Develop or expand MCH curriculum, competencies, and degree offerings within schools of public health where there is currently a lack of, or limited, MCH offerings
• Strengthen the public health graduate student competencies in MCH
• Recruit graduate student trainees from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds to complete MCH coursework.

The purpose of this program is to strengthen partnerships with Minority Serving Institutions to build a broader infrastructure to recruit and support current and emerging nutrition professionals and students from underrepresented groups. This project will serve as a model to create additional MCH nutrition career pathways and increase racial and ethnic diversity in the nutrition workforce.

The purpose of this program is to support post-graduate training to promote career pathways into MCH academia. Support for postdoctoral fellowships and junior faculty will increase research and teaching capacity for advancing MCH within Schools of Public Health, strengthen academic-practice partnerships, and enhance skills in the formation of MCH policy, including the translation of research to practice and policy.

The purpose of this program is to develop three state models in MCH nutrition integration, which can then be replicated in states nationwide.  These state models will focus on:

•  Increasing the MCH nutrition competency of the state Title V workforce and
• Optimizing MCH nutrition-related data sources to contribute to data-driven programs and activities related to assessment, policy development, and assurance. 
   

This program supports innovative, community-based initiatives to improve the health status of infants, children, adolescents, and families in rural and other underserved communities by increasing their access to preventive care and services.

The MCH NAVIGATOR provides state public health professionals with free, competency-based learning and tools on key skills necessary to carry out their daily work and improve the health of children and families. The MCH Navigator has practical learning strategies for every type of learner in multiple sessions: self-directed, semi-structured, self-reflective, and fast/interactive. Learners can track their learning through an online self-assessment tool and participate in short bursts of group learning.

The purpose of the program is to strengthen the practicing and future MCH workforce by providing training and collaborative learning for State Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant Program leaders and staff. Training will focus on three key topic areas related to health transformation, including ongoing implementation of the Title V Block Grant: 

1. Systems integration
2. Change management and adaptive leadership; and
3. Evidence-based decision making.

Building on efforts to advance academic-practice partnerships in MCH at the National MCH Workforce Development Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, this program aims to diversify and build the capacity of MCH public health faculty within Minority Serving Institutions in education, research, and practice.

To meet children's behavioral health needs, our programs help pediatric health professionals with consultation, training, resources, and referrals. This support helps them effectively add behavioral health to routine checkups.
